St Lucia
Simply Beautyful
|
St. Lucia is a small, lush tropical island that is still relatively unknown and is located midway down the Eastern Caribbean chain, one of the Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles, between Martinique and St. Vincent, and north of Barbados. The Atlantic Ocean lies on its eastern shore, the west coast lies on the Caribbean Sea.
|
The Climate
St. Lucia has a tropical climate. The temperature ranges from 80 - 90°F. The normally drier period is February through May with July to September being the months with the most rain. Throughout the year the mountains enjoy more rainfall than the lower lying areas. |

Nightlife
Friday night features a major street party in the town of Gros Islet on Rodney Bay with loud music, barbecued food and plenty of St. Lucia-brewed Heineken beer. There are a number of clubs and bars around Rodney Bay for an evening out dancing and many hotels feature steel bands.
Golf
There are two nine hole golf courses on the island (Cap Estates and La Toc). Both are very scenic and greens fees are very reasonable.
Scuba Diving
The many dive shops island-wide attest to the quality and variety of diving sites in the waters surrounding St. Lucia.
Fishing
Fishing is a tradition that provides St. Lucians with a major source of food. The full service marinas at Rodney Bay and Castries is where you can arrange for full-day or half-day fishing trips. Serious anglers will want to register for the Bill Fish Tournament in October.
Sailing
There are many options for sailors with boat rentals as well as day-sails that include lunch and drinks.
Windsurfing
The southern coast is the focus of windsurfing on St. Lucia. Conditions range from strong winds and choppy waves on the Atlantic side to calm water and easy breezes on the Caribbean side.
Hiking
The dense tropical rain forest, towering peaks of the Pitons, Diamond Falls, and hot sulphur pools provide hikers with interesting and challenging walks. Bird watchers may be able to add to their "life list" sighting rare tropical birds. The Forestry Department and the St. Lucia National Trust both sponsor nature tours for a variety of interests and physical capabilities.
Horseback Riding
Several stables on the island offer a unique way to tour the island.
